Illuminating Change: The Ripple Effects of Our Solar Plants in Brazil

In January 2025 all our new solar plants in Brazil, 9 in total representing 3 MW each, will start producing renewable energy. Norsk Renewable projects have an impact on the environment and local communities. These ripple effects embody our commitment to sustainability, safety, and the empowerment of people, making the shift to renewable energy effortless.

Production and CO2 Emissions Saved: A Leap Toward a Greener Future

As the 2024 year came to an end, we produced 24 034 MWh of renewable energy. One of the most immediate and measurable benefits of our solar plants is their contribution to reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Throughout our production so far (just started!), these facilities have saved approximately 9 325 metric tons of CO2 - equivalent to the energy consumption of 11 840 households annually.

Empowering Communities Through Employment and Growth

Building these solar plants was not only a technical feat but also a human-centered endeavor. More than 2000 individuals, mostly from local communities, were employed throughout the project’s construction period. Beyond providing jobs, we invested in upskilling workers through the Toolbox Talks.

Toolbox Talks: Shaping Understanding and Ensuring Safety

Safety and awareness are foundational to any successful project. Throughout the construction phase, we conducted over 3500 toolbox talks. These procedural sessions were transformative in shaping not only a personal understanding of project goals but also a robust culture of health, safety, and environment (HSE). Norsk Renewables wants the workers to become more than just participants; they become advocates for safety and sustainability, taking these values beyond the project site into their communities and daily lives.

The Importance of Local Content: A Sustainable Legacy

Local content was a cornerstone of this initiative. By sourcing more than 90% of the materials services from Brazilian suppliers (not panels), we ensured economic benefits remained within the country/region. This approach not only stimulated the local economy but also fostered a sense of ownership and pride among community members, and has given a fantastic service to us as an owner and Independent Power Producer (IPP). It is a sustainable legacy that promotes resilience and self-reliance long after the last panel has been installed. We are here for the long run and the better we work with local suppliers, the better it is.

A Broader Impact

The impact of our solar plants transcends energy production. They symbolize progress—a tangible shift toward sustainability, inclusivity, and safety. Together, we are making ripples that will resonate
